Heidi Swapp Masks are all the rage. I have several designs coming to the store soon.
Masks are opposites of stencils. They are made from a flexible, reusable material with a repositionable adhesive on the back so they will stay in place as mediums are applied over the top. Great for use with chalk, watercolor, inks, acrylic and spray paint. Place used Masks back on to the backer sheet and store to use again. You do not need to wash the mask as you will just be adding more colors on top each time.
I found a YouTube video you can watch for an idea of how easy these are to use.

Be sure to look in the store for other Heidi Swapp products.

Those look pretty neat...I've heard of them but never used them...I always wondered how people get all those swirls and things on their LOs and cards...
